Ask in Chats instead of a ticket

Not everything is a ticket. When you want an answer, a quick look at something, or to think out loud before you know what the work is, ask in Chats: an agent answers there, with no branch, no plan and no review. When the conversation turns into work, the agent files the ticket for you.

Nothing: Chats works on any board.

Ask in a chatWrite a ticket
“How does the export decide the file name?”“Export the list as CSV”
“Which tickets touched the login flow this month?”“Fix the redirect loop after login”
“Draft three names for the new settings page”“Rename the settings page and update the links”
You want an answer, a draft or a file. You want a change in a repo, reviewed and merged.

A chat agent reads the board, the files on this machine and the web, and can write a file in a scratch folder of its own and attach it to the chat. It does not work in your repo and never finishes into In Review: there is no branch, plan or verification check behind it.

  1. In the header, click Chats (or press 2).
  2. Click New.
  3. Write your question in Message and click Send. Type / to run a skill, or /btw for an aside that does not interrupt an answer in progress.

Result: the agent answers in the thread, and your first message becomes the chat’s title in the list. Stop halts an answer that is going the wrong way. Pick another model or thinking level in the message box’s settings, as on a ticket.

Ask for it in the chat: “Make this a ticket”, “File a ticket to fix what we found”, or “Save this as a Knowledge Base page”. The agent does this only when you ask: it opens the work as a subticket of the chat, with what you worked out as its brief, or proposes the page for your review.

Result: a ticket carrying the chat’s findings lands on the board, ready for an agent to build.

To keep a chat in sight next to the tickets it relates to, show it on the board.

  1. Open the chat.
  2. Click Add to board in its header.

Result: the same chat shows as a card on the board, and the button reads On board. It stays a chat: replying on the card or in Chats is the same conversation.

To tidy up, the chat’s … menu (Chat actions) has Archive chat and Delete chat.
